Message from Mayor Andy Nuñez

I’m grateful to the people of Hatch and the surrounding area for your response to the COVID-19 Shelter in Place Order from the Governor. It’s an unfortunate situation that has a major impact on our community. Hatch people come together in a time of need; we can get through this together. Below are answers to some of the questions that have come up.

  1. Please continue to pay your utility bills by mailing them to PO Box 220, Hatch, NM 87937 or put them into the drop box at the Village office. Both are checked on a regular basis.
  2. NM Department of Motor Vehicles is closed until further notice from the state. You won’t be charged any penalties if your license plate or driver’s license expires during the time they are closed.
  3. The utility department is only providing emergency services at this time. There will be no new connections or disconnections. Mike Castillo is the emergency contact he will also be doing locates. His telephone number is (575)644-1282.
  4. All emergency services are available to the Village and surrounding areas. They are staffed as usual.
  5. The Police Department is working at full capacity 24 hours a day. The best way to reach the Police Department for an emergency or call an officer is to call 911, they will immediately get the message to our officers. For non-emergencies or to get a message to an officer or the Chief of Police continue to call (575)267-3021. Once the COVID-19 order is over dispatch will return to Hatch.
  6. Municipal Court is temporarily closed until April 13, 2020. Magistrate Court will not be coming to Hatch until further notice. If you owe fines or payment agreements to the Municipal Court please mail payments to PO Box 220 Hatch, NM 87937. During this time no extra fines or penalties will be charged, also there will be no weddings until further notice. If you have any questions please call (575)267-5216, leave your name and telephone number and we will return your call as soon as we are able to.
  7. The Hatch Public Library and Hatch Museum will also be closed until further notice.

I hope this has answered most of your questions. I’ll give updates as they become available.

Mayor Andy Nuñez
